Steve Fieldhouse

Improvisation, Composition.

Steve plays saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, and electric bass.  He has been studying music since age 10.  During his high school years, he was chosen for All-State Jazz Ensemble twice, and the National Jazz Ensemble once.  While in high school, he studied with local musicians Curt Sipe, Tom Strohman, and Kirk Reese.

He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music from the University of North Texas.  During his time there, he performed in the world renown 2 o’clock jazz ensemble.  He was a Downbeat Award winner in the Best College Jazz Band category, won 2nd place in the North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz competition, and won Best College Jazz Small Group at the Wichita Jazz Festival.  He was awarded a Teaching Fellowship at North Texas teaching saxophone lessons, saxophone class, reading ensemble, and the 9 o’clock Jazz Ensemble.  

Steve has been teaching saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, electric bass, and composition students since 2000.  He has had several students qualify for District Band, District Jazz Ensemble, and All-State Jazz Ensemble.  Steve was also Assistant Professor of Music at Gettysburg College for 7 years teaching private saxophone lessons, saxophone quartet, private improvisation lessons, and small group jazz ensemble.
